Henry Eicholtz Leman built his Trade Rifles, circa 1840 to 1880, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He also spelled his name "Lehman" early in his career. This antique rifle is stocked in walnut with a dark brown varnish applied. The furniture is sand cast nickel silver. The percussion lock is shaped with a rounded front corner and square tail.
The hand made barrel is approximately 63/64" octagon. The barrel is .33 caliber rifled with seven narrow round bottom grooves and wide lands. The bore is rough with clearly defined lands and grooves. The rear has classic Leman shaping and is used on most rifles found. The front sight is a low silver blade with integral base.
